The Dotte Radio
The Dotte Radio was a project that I picked up sophomore year in high school. It was a podcast about events that were going on locally, and globally. I faced many challenges trying to make myself “radio material.” I had to work on my vocabulary, pronunciation, and voice. I had to find topics that would interest the student body. I soon found my co-host Deven Blight, who helped me produce segments. We finished the school year with 22 episodes.
Junior year was a big change. We introduced music into the mix. There were many difficulties and problems along the way. We had to figure out the format of the radio, along with the technical work. After figuring everything out, we were a go. The radio would play 24/7 automatically. We would occasionally record segments and play them on the radio as well as put them in an archive for students to listen to whenever, wherever. We talked about more controversial issues, and brought on more of the student body so they could express their opinions, and beliefs.
